Hubris? I avoid ‘isms’ but I open this conversation with an anecdote of the first overt instance of ageism that I personally encountered, just before recording this podcast.
Today’s guest explores the structural ways we tolerate and promote behaviors toward people based solely on their age and how cultural norms and prejudices unconsciously shape our treatment of others and expectations about our own aging.
We talk about what ageism, ableism and successful aging means and how these concepts affect both societal attitudes but also our own perceptions of ourselves extending into every factet of life including technology.
