Jun 7, 2021 | Mind and Brain, Personal Development, Podcast Episode

“When you live your purpose you are in the flow. Life is effortless, opportunities flow to you and you become unstoppable- H. Richard Steinhoff.”

As we explore steps we can take to lead ourselves to a happier, healthier life, it is clear that the starting point for the roadmap to aging youthfully is in our mind. In previous episodes of Growing Older Living Younger we had conversations about resilience and rebounding from trauma to create something good. We talked about how to avoid living a life of regrets, and about how beliefs influence behavior and lead to direct consequences. Also how one of my favorite fun activities, online brain training, keeps your cognitive powers like memory or reaction speed, sharp.

Today we discuss finding your life purpose, and feeding your soul.

“Everyone has a purpose in life and a unique talent to give to others. And when we blend this unique talent with service to others, we experience the ecstasy and exultation of our own spirit, which is the ultimate goal of all goals.” -Kallam Anji Reddy

A near-death experience led Richard Steinhoff to realize his life purpose. He is the author of “Dying on Purpose: How My Near-Death Experience Can Change Your LIfe.” Richard is a real estate broker who has written 8 books on real estate. and a community leader, dedicated to improving the lives of people and their communities.

Richard had a long career in aerospace, working on the Apollo program and having the incredible experience of being at Cape Canaveral for the Apollo 13 mission. Neither his professional career, his real estate business nor his dedication to fundraising for the arts, hinted that he would one day write a book about a near-death experience that could change people’s lives around the world.

Prior to this life transforming event, Richard had it all, a beautiful, loving wife, and a successful real estate business. When a diseased gallbladder landed him in the hospital for surgery, a series of complications on the operating table nearly killed him. He had an out-of-body, Near-Death Experience, encountering a heavenly being, who told him he had to return to his body because he had not completed his life’s purpose.  From then on, he realized that his life purpose was to guide others to discover theirs.
